Louis D'Agostino, President & FI Practice Leader

Louis D’Agostino is a dynamic senior insurance professional with nearly 17 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is presently serving as the President and Financial Services Practice Leader of Iron Cove Partners, LLC. In his current role, Mr. D’Agostino oversees a group of talented insurance professionals that offer a full suite of insurance products and consulting services to some of the nation’s wealthiest families/high net-worth clients and largest organizations. He is dedicated to business/new product development and large account placement, resulting in a proven track record of successful negotiation of even the most challenging of claims such as Madoff, investor litigation, and SEC/DOJ enforcement. As part of his work at Iron Cove Partners, Mr. D’Agostino’s expertise has been called upon by a variety of industry trade groups. He has presented to the Financial Executives Alliance (FEA), the NYSSCPA, and other peer groups on a wide array of insurance related topics. He also presented at GAIMops, a leading financial services conference focusing on non-investment operations, on the topic of AIFMD and the associated insurance implications.

Prior to accepting his role with Iron Cove Partners, LLC, Mr. D’Agostino spent 10 years working for Frank Crystal & Co., a NYC-based insurance agency founded in 1933. His final role with the organization was as a Director in the Financial Services Department where he was able to perfect his negotiation skills. He successfully placed Management and Professional Liability Insurance on behalf of numerous financial institutions including hedge and private equity funds, registered investment advisors, securities dealers, and consultants. With a diverse battery of skills and experience, Mr. D’Agostino has managed accounts for commercial businesses including real estate, not-for-profits, manufacturing, retail, and tech firms. Mr. D’Agostino feels strongly that his success and growth in the financial services industry is served by his career in professional football. Having played through high school and college, Mr. D’Agostino was a running back with the New York Jets in the 1996 and 1997 seasons. He played in the Arena Football League in 1998 and finished his career in 2001 playing for the New York/New Jersey Hitmen of the XFL.

Volunteer Experience

Mr. D’Agostino stays active as a volunteer in his community by serving several organizations and by acting as a role model and coach in youth sports. He is extremely proud to have celebrated 10 years of volunteer service with Cooley’s Anemia Foundation. Additional volunteer activities include working with Bethany House of Nassau County Corporation and with the American Cancer Society, serving as the co-chair of the inaugural Coaches vs. Cancer event at the Allegria. He volunteers as a youth and high school football coach, CYO basketball coach, and with the town’s PAL lacrosse program.

Awards & Recognition

Mr. D’Agostino’s dedication to his craft and his community has led to recognition both personally and professionally. In 2017, Mr. D’Agostino flew to London to accept the award for Best Global Insurance Provider from Hedgeweek, a Global Fund Media publication with over 98,000 financial services executives globally. Mr. D’Agostino was also a member of the Class of 2013: 40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Business as selected by the Long Island Business News.


Mr. D’Agostino holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Rhode Island. He has also worked diligently to earn his Property & Casualty and Life/Health & Annuity Insurance Licenses as well as his Series 7 & Series 63 Securities Licenses.

Gregory C. Sibilio, Esq., Vice President

Gregory Sibilio, Esq. is the Vice President of Financial Lines at Iron Cove Partners. Greg is an integral part of the financial institutions unit. His background in the financial services industry has enabled him to assist in numerous corporate initiatives, including but not limited to: Claims, Contract Review, Brokerage, Marketing,& Business Development in all areas of Property & Casualty Insurance, as well other general lines of insurance.

Greg is a graduate of Loyola University Maryland, where he majored in Business Administration, with a Specialization in Marketing, Law, and Social Responsibility. Upon graduation in 2005, Greg attended Southern New England School of Law (Now UMass Dartmouth School of Law), where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2008. He practiced law in Connecticut from 2009 to 2011 for the law firm of Hunt, Leibert, Jacobson, P.C., a leading law firm representing the banking and financial services industry. During his time with Hunt, Leibert, Jacobson, P.C., Greg represented a significant and diverse group of banks, commercial finance companies, mezzanine lenders and other institutional lenders in structuring and documenting commercial finance transactions. His duties entailed going to court, settlement hearings, and oral argument as well as drafting motions and pleadings. Greg is a member of the Connecticut bar, United States Federal District Court of Connecticut, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Mellisa Smith, Account Executive

Mellisa Smith will serve as an immediate contact and customer service representative for all of our Financial Services clients. She will be involved in multiple facets of the day-to-day business including brokerage, administration and handling client service requests. Mellisa comes to Iron Cove Partners with five years of industry experience and is a welcomed addition to the firm.

Rachel Barrett, Executive Vice President

Rachel Barret is a Certified Insurance Counselor leading the Personal Lines Department at the Whitmore Group, Ltd. Rachel began her insurance career advocating on clients' behalves as a claims specialist in 1982. After a few years in the claims department, she took over the Personal Lines Division of Davis, Dorland and Company. Through business acquisitions, Rachel became the manager and Vice President of Kalvin-Miller International and American Phoenix Corporation. In 1998, Rachel joined the Whitmore Group, Ltd. heading the Personal Lines Division which manages over 5,000 national accounts and provides first class insurance consulting for high net worth individuals. Rachel carries a lot of influence in the personal lines insurance industry as she is a member of the insurance company agent councils for some of the largest writers of personal lines insurance for high net worth individuals, including: Chubb, ACE, Atlantic Mutual, Fireman's Fund, Travelers, and General Accident.

George Custance, Executive Vice President

George Custance is the Executive Vice President of the Property & Casualty Division. With over (25) Twenty-five years of brokerage experience, Mr. Custance is an industry veteran who brings tremendous technical knowledge of a multitude of insurance products as well as extensive insurance underwriter relationships. Prior to joining the Whitmore Group, Mr. Custance spent over 12 years with Frenkel & Co. leading a P&C Unit addressing the insurance needs of multi-national companies.

James Harnett, Senior Vice President

James Harnett has well over fifteen (15) years of insurance industry & account management experience with large, multinational insurance brokerage firms. Mr. Harnett spent three (3) years with Frenkel & Co., Three (3) years with AON Corp. and the last 8 (eight) years at Foa & Sons holding the position of Senior Account Executive in the Large Commercial Lines Division where he led a unit which handled a diversified client base all with a wide array of domestic and international exposures. James has a Bachelor's Degree in Economics with a Concentration in Finance from Siena College. He also holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), Associate in Reinsurance, and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations. Mr. Harnett is a founding member & serves on the board of directors of "Fight for Mike", a non-profit whose sole mission is to raise funds for Cerebral Palsy.

Geraldine Schnatz, Controller Operations Manager

Geraldine Schnatz is the Controller and operations manager of the firm. Gerry is responsible for all facets of compliance and licensing and oversees the accounting and payroll divisions. Gerry is an integral part of the firm and handles all business critical functions.
